- The shell has taken a visible impact — even a minor one. Even one you didn’t report.
- The helmet was stored improperly for an extended period — trunk of a vehicle, direct sunlight, humidity extremes.
- You simply don’t know when it was last inspected — or if it ever was.
Any one of these is sufficient reason to send it in. None of them are dramatic. That’s the point.

What Flight Helmet Inspection and Refurbishment Actually Covers
When a helmet comes into Pro Flight Gear for inspection and refurbishment, it doesn’t get a visual once-over. It gets disassembled.
Every helmet is evaluated in a disassembled state — which is the only way to accurately assess the condition of interior padding, retention hardware, ear cup seals, and structural integrity that isn’t visible from the outside. Once the helmet is confirmed to be in operational condition, it goes through inspection and is rebuilt to OEM standard. Paint services — when requested or when condition requires it.
During the service process, we can:
- Replace damaged, worn, or obsolete parts with genuine manufacturer components
- Add improvements and upgrades — including Zero-G interior components — if the owner wants to combine a refurbishment with an upgrade
- Document the helmet’s condition and service history in our records system

- A detailed description of what you’re requesting — inspection, specific repairs, full refurbishment, or a combination
Once your request is received, a Pro Flight Gear specialist will follow up with further instructions, including shipment details to our Tennessee location, which is our main flight helmet service center.
Pricing is quote-based — every helmet and service scope is different, and we don’t apply flat rates to work that requires individual assessment. If you prefer to drop it off in person, we welcome appointments at either our Marana, AZ or Cunningham, TN location — just contact us to coordinate.
